“I am grateful for the support I received from Dreamcatcher when they helped pay my travel expenses to the 2017 Indigenous Music Awards where my brother took home two awards. I was sent as media with Jukasa Radio, and this was my first experience inside of the media world. I got to interview artists, be back stage, and hear all the powerful stories of our people. This sparked my career in the media industry, where I eventually went into film. I wanted to use video to tell our stories and amplify Indigenous voices. That experience in 2017 opened up my journey to understanding more about my culture, my people, my gifts, and my passions.



As I began to understand my Mohawk identity it opened up a deep and meaningful relationship with the water. I’ve now gone on to make my own documentary about my healing journey with the water, with new film projects in production and continue to be a voice and advocate for the protection of water. Nia:wen to Dreamcatcher, for helping me take that first step and helping me open that door to my true calling to be a warrior for the water.

Layla Staats Story

Autumn Peltier is an 18-year-old Anishinaabe-Kwe and citizen of the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, a First Nation reserve of the Anishinabek Nation located on Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario. She is a water protector, who has been advocating for the protection of Nibi and Mother Earth since the age of seven.



Her efforts and passion have placed her on global stages where she continues to be a formidable voice and inspiration to today&#8217;s youth and all who receive her message.



This incredibly accomplished teenager has received many environmental and human rights awards including being a 4x nominee and Top 3 International Children&#8217;s Peace Prize finalist in 2022. She has also been recognized by Maclean’s as one of The Top 50 Canadians of Power. Today, Autumn remains committed to using her voice and power to advocate for Indigenous equality in front of prominent leaders across Turtle Island.

“The Dreamcatcher Fund helped me out for years with my schooling and golf. I am very thankful for that. I am very proud to represent the Six Nations. I became a golfer, and as it happens, golf is a game of equality. There is no draft, no combine and no coach’s decision about who plays. You do your best and the score decides where you end up. Life takes some funny turns and you have to learn from each one, but if you believe in something, and if you keep your dream, it can happen.”

“Meagan Hill is Mohawk, from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. As a young woman, she dreamed big. On her way to becoming the first college graduate in her family, Meagan successfully applied to Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation for tuition costs and promptly enrolled at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Meagan’s original intention was to attend medical school but, immersed in the inspiring environment at Harvard, she discovered that her true passion was business. She applied and was accepted into Harvard Business School.

A multidisciplinary artist from the Kahnyen’kehàka Nation, Turtle Clan from Six Nations of the Grand River. She is the founder of internationally renowned Kaha:wi Dance Theatre that shares Indigenous performance and culture through embodied storytelling. Santee has been appointed as the first Indigenous woman Chancellor of McMaster University.

“The Pen Pal Project was a neighbouring communities project that connected students from Caledonia and Six Nations, writing pen pal letters from both sides of the Grand River. This was a response to build bridges of understanding between the communities after a land rights dispute in 2006. The project started with 2 classrooms and grew to include over 100 classrooms and 2500 students in 2016, sharing letters of friendship.



The image above was taken in 2013, the living Two Row Wampum Treaty. Each year the students came together to meet their pen pal. “By receiving funding from the Dreamcatcher Foundation, my daughter was able to train and compete with her cheerleading team in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Cheerleading has allowed her to learn the benefits of hard work while also building her self-confidence and teamwork skills. Dreamcatchers’ application process was straightforward and inspired her to get out into the community and give back.

Kelly Babstock Story

With the help of Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation, I was able to attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. In my first year, I was able to work, volunteer, and study all while trying to maintain a work/life balance. I know without the support of Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation this would have been nearly impossible. I have given back to both my home community (Chimnissing) by becoming a member of the Beausoleil Education Authority Committee. I was able to attend school with a lessoned financial barrier achieving a GPA OF 3.19 to advance on to year 2 in good standing. This is the highest my GPA has ever been! I know that as time progresses my schooling will continue to increase in difficulty, but I now have a solid foundation to progress through and complete my Doctor of Chiropractic. Though I have a long road ahead, I know I can continually strive to be a leader in our communities and a role model for any. Your support helped me to be one step closer to my personal and professional goals and I will forever be grateful.
